Crispy Spiced Okra Fries

If you have never had okra, this is definitely the way to try it out!

Okra can be a bit of a daunting vegetable to prepare at first, as their texture can easily become gelatinous. When made into fries however, the texture changes to crispy, light and delicious.

⌁175g orka

⌁3/4 cup gram flour

⌁1/3 cup nutritional yeast

⌁1 tbsp curry powder

⌁1 1/2 tsp salt

⌁1 tbsp garlic powder

⌁1 tsp hot paprika powder


⌁1 tbsp egg replacer powder

⌁1 tsp ginger

⌁3 tbsp water

⌁1/2 tsp salt

⌁1/4 tsp sriracha

⌁1/2 tsp minced garlic


Wash your okra well and pat dry. Slice them down the middle and cut off the ends.

In a bowl combine all your wet ingredients and in another all of your dry ingredients.

Put the okra in your wet ingredients bowl and then into the dry until well coated. You can throw them all in at once and it will work well.

In a pan heat up about 2-3cm of oil and place them inside carefully to keep the coating on. Fry until golden brown, then put them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Serve with vegan garlic or curry mayo or on its own. Enjoy!
